Sorry I've been away! I figured you wouldn't want my cold anyway. I hope you enjoyed the article I left for you on Friday. I will definitely be back on Tuesday for our trip. Don't forget your permission forms! Also, don't worry about the movie deconstruction assignment. I will discuss it with you on Tuesday morning.
Hi Ms. Draper. Get well soon. I don't think this advertisement is real. It all looks to perfect, the expressions and the reactions. However that boy just stood there watching the car come and speed towards him. Had it been me I would have been freaked out. See you tommorow.
ReplyDeleteThe advertisement in the beginning did look a bit convincing but the moment I saw the teenage boy and teenage girl hit the button, I knew there was something fishy. Teenagers like to do things that they are specifically told not to do. Hitting that button caused loud sirens to go buzzing off. A normal teenager would try to run away, and not get caught especially since this is happening in a little town in Belgium where nothing happens. Instead, the two just stood there which also happens during the gun shots and when the car came speeding. Something I noted was that there was no one helping the guy who fell out of the ambulance, nor the guy who hit the ambulance car while riding his bike, or anyone to break up the fight that was going on. It was as if the audience didn't want to "interfere" with their “act”, or either there’s no humanity left in the world and all we do is watch from afar.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the significance of this post. Are we suppose to point of the stereotypes or assumptions made by the producer of this medium? The first individual who pressed the button was a male, which reinforced the stereotype males are risk takers (more so then females). The teenage that fell from his bike, reacted violently, which reinforced males are aggressive.

ReplyDeleteThe producers wasted their money because their advertisment fails to deliver the point.
This is beyond adding drama. People on streets didn't even to react to what was happening. There was so much happening that didn't even know how to react. Obviously this is fake because the same scene happened like four times and they have to use the same actors for it too.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with everyone that this advertisement is fake. But something that stuck out to me was the lady in a red bra and red panties on the red bike. Even in worthless commercial, society still portrays women as "slutty" and like to be always half naked.
ReplyDeleteI think this advertisement is fake because it seems unrealistic. For example, when the two men are carrying the male on the stretcher they drop him. Also, those who were standing around didn’t look frightened; they just looked shocked which is an easy emotion to act. However, I did find this advertisement really interesting because it made me curious to find out what the product is. I clicked on the link and learned it was for a new television channel. Many ads on television actually do this; they don’t reveal what the product is actually for instead they leave you with a website to figure it out on your own. This new medium technique is interesting because they waste a lot of money to make a commercial but they don’t reveal what it is for, however, it does capture your attention and make you want to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the unique use of medium technique here however, I did not figure out what they were advertising until I looked at the Youtube comments of others. Yes, different medium techniques are an efficient way to capture the audience's attention, but it should be done in a more understandable and a more precise act.
