As promised, I am starting a discussion thread for A Jihad for Love. Feel free to find it on YouTube. The entire film can be viewed there, or on Netflix. I look forward to reading your questions and comments.
I feel very bad for the first guy in the film. I can feel the empathy of his troubles growing up. But now he has told everyone in Islam that he is homosexual and now people are in riots and want to kill him. Why is it such a big idea? When the first guy said that the act of homosexual is a sin and not being a homosexual itself is, I really thought that was a great point. But if all these people believe in their God to make them who they are, does that mean their God made a homosexual too? How can there not be a homosexual in the whole Muslim community? They should come to North America where there are many homosexual Muslims. With all this religious morale, I would think they would even start a war. There has been even predictions that WW3 would start because of homosexuals. Could this be the case? Or would it just start with North Korea sending missiles to North America?
I was extremely moved by this video. There is Homosexuals within every community, religion, race, and culture. The fact that someone of a Muslim faith has come forward is wonderful. Although the way he did it is a bit extreme. But hey, everyone to his or her own, right? I just feel bad, because yes, he may change the view on being a gay Muslim, but everyone who doesnt believe in that is going to hate him. Hopefully his actions are not all to waste, and society does slowly change and accept this new way of life for the individuals that find themselves in this situation.
I do have empathy for the first person we seen. After he announced that he was homosexual, he got plenty of people hating him.I wouldn't want the whole country to hate me because of a remark I made about myself. Plus, the man couldn't even visit his two children during this hate. Imagine not having the ability to visit your own children because of the hatred that other people have on you that they will kill you.
